Our Black & Whites Color Outside the Lines

Our Black & Whites Color Outside the Lines

At William Greenberg Desserts, the Black & White Cookie has always been more than a classic, it’s a canvas. While the traditional chocolate-and-vanilla version remains a cornerstone, the bakery was among the first to color outside the lines, introducing variations that brought new flavor and personality to this New York staple.

In addition to custom-colored fondant designs, William Greenberg pioneered seasonal and specialty flavors that expanded what a Black & White Cookie could be. Pumpkin and sweet potato versions brought warmth and depth to fall menus, while red velvet offered a richer, more indulgent twist on the classic. These variations weren’t about novelty, they were about honoring the structure of the cookie while exploring flavor in a way that still felt true to its roots.

That spirit of creativity continues today through owner Carol Becker's creativity. Whether finished in bold colors for celebrations or baked with seasonal flavors that add a new dimension, each Black & White Cookie reflects the same balance of tradition and innovation that has defined William Greenberg for generations.
