Meet the Taiglach

Meet the Taiglach

Taiglach date back to ancient Rome, where strips of fried dough in honey were known as vermiculos. Italian Jews adopted the tradition, and by the Middle Ages it had spread through Eastern Europe, becoming a staple of Ashkenazi Rosh Hashanah tables. The name itself is Yiddish, meaning "little dough," and the treat has been eaten for generations to usher in a sweet new year.

At William Greenberg Desserts, we make our taiglach the traditional way: small golden dough balls glazed with honey, finished with nuts and dried cherries. Fully kosher certified and available for the Rosh Hashanah season.

Rosh Hashanah falls on September 11 this year. Order early for pickup at our Madison Avenue or Amsterdam Avenue locations, or online for delivery.
