ChallahFest Begins at Our Bakery

ChallahFest Begins at Our Bakery

ChallahFest is making news. This week, EDM.com and Time Out both covered Global ChallahFest, the new international festival from FOODISH by ANU Museum of the Jewish People. Both name William Greenberg Desserts as the place where the New York program begins.

A Festival Built Around One Bread

As EDM.com put it, “A new festival is putting carbs on the lineup this fall, and challah is the headliner.” Global ChallahFest runs from November 6 to 29 in seven cities: New York, Chicago, Washington, Boston, Atlanta, Tel Aviv, and London. The program includes bakery tours, student baking competitions, shared Friday night dinners, an original photography exhibition, and a Challah Rave.

“A challah can become a conversation, a work of art or a rave,” said FOODISH founder and CEO Merav Oren.

Where New York Begins

Both outlets report that Jake Cohen, the New York Times bestselling cookbook author, opens the New York festival at William Greenberg Desserts. We’re proud to be ChallahFest’s primary New York partner, and here is what’s happening at our bakeries from November 12 to 15:

  • Jake Cohen Meet & Greet, Thursday, November 12. Just 15 guests will join Jake at our Upper West Side location. To enter, see Jake’s giveaway post on Instagram.
  • A Conversation with Joan Nathan and Carol Becker, Friday, November 13, 11:00 AM. James Beard Award-winning author Joan Nathan joins Carol Becker for an open conversation about challah and the stories it carries, moderated by Merav Oren. All are welcome.
  • ChallahFest DIY Kits, November 12 to 15. Purchase a challah at either bakery and receive a complimentary ChallahFest DIY Kit. Kits are limited and available while supplies last.
  • Challah Nuggets, November 12 to 15. Stop in for challah nuggets, served by the cone. Available while supplies last.

Our Challah Around the City

You’ll also find William Greenberg Desserts challah at three more New York ChallahFest events:

  • Challah Rave at Café Landwer, Williamsburg, Saturday, November 14, 8:00 PM to midnight. The event EDM.com called “the showstopper” begins with Havdalah before DJ Falmer takes over. Sponsored by William Greenberg Desserts. For guests ages 22 to 40.
